Moderate Alcohol Consumption reduces risk of Alzheimer’s. |
A new study presented at the World Alzheimer’s Congress 2000 in Washington DC, shows that those who consume one to two glasses of beer or wine per day have a 30 percent lower risk for Alzheimer’s disease, compared with non-drinkers. Testimony by Dr. Lindsay A. Farrer of Boston University tells us the positive effects might be attributed to an increased circulation to the brain, and alcohol might act as an anti-oxidant that mops up free standing radicals, or alcohol might promote cell repair.
