Pale Abbey ale brewed for the Abbey of Keizersberg (Emperor’s Mountain in English) in Leuven, Flemish Brabant, the most famous university town of Belgium, where the Catholic university is located for almost 1000 years now. This triple ale offers 8.5 % alcohol by volume, is very pale in color, very smooth, with an outspoken fruity character, balanced by a hoppy aftertaste. Triples come more to life when served at room temperature, but this one can easily be enjoyed colder, and then it is a very refreshing beer. Of course top-fermented, and refermented in the bottles and in the kegs! A beer to be aged for a long time. Aging makes it crispier, dryer in a sense like some very dry cherry wines.
Food combinations. Clearly the ideal aperitif beer, that will wet the appetite very well, because of its dryness and fruity senses. Goes well with some desserts, and can make a good companion with some fish dishes. A dry white wine can be replaced and will be surpassed by this exceptional beer. |
